qualitative/quantitative係做管理決策的兩個類別

跟據過往數據/市場統計/競爭者......等資料, 預測未來市場環境, 再進行決策的是為quantitative 的decision making
例如:跟據上五年業務, 每年都有10%客戶增長, 因此下年人手將進一步緊絀, 要盡快增聘人手。

不過並非任何事皆可量化, 尤其在新行業, 新市場..........而且量化的決策涉及大量資料收集及整理過程, 或會令企業失去先機, 或者市場近期經歷巨變(如2003年SARS)令過往數字不能反映現況, 因此有時管理者會以主觀理解, 個人經驗等做決策, 是為qualitative的決策。
例如: CEO應為這個新產品一定能使客戶購買, 所以決定進行研發及進出市場
